In The Core sports performance training has a unique approach to athletic success by developing athletes to be “In The Core” having the right things in the right place at the right time athletically and in life. Our training is holistic, focusing on all characteristics needed to be an elite athlete not just physically but mentally as well. The training progression we use starts with the athlete’s brain and what they believe to then achieve physical performance goals. We focus especially on athletic decision making and proper form and body control. At the core of champion performance is the brain. Athletic movements start as messages from the brain, decisions. This travels down the spinal cord, into the core muscles, and then out.

Most of the sports performance world trains athletes from the outside in. If you need faster feet, just do these foot speed drills. If you need to rehabilitate the knee, just focus on the knee. At In The Core we have shown that if an athlete needs faster feet, they first need to make decisions faster. If a body part needs to heal and once again “learn” its role, we begin through visualization of what is expected. Every training session begins with a brain and mind warm-up. Literally raising the temperature of the brain and involving both hemispheres of the brain together in “whole-brained” drills. These whole-brained drills, such as juggling, have been shown in research studies to generate new brain matter and enhance the brain’s ability to make faster, more complex decisions, thus resulting in greater athletic performance.

Next, we focus on balance and stabilization with proper form. This develops and heightens the body’s sensory systems taking advantage of an already warmed up whole-brain. Intentionally training balance further increases brain growth and helps athletes learn how to control their bodies in a variety of challenging tasks that require coordination in novel circumstances. In addition, balance training is an important part of injury prevention that is often overlooked!

Now it’s time to make the body respond. Neuromuscular firing drills of many types and varieties challenge the athletes to push their neuromuscular response limits translating to speed, power, strength, and agility. These drills are not ordinary. At In The Core we progress these into whole-brained agility drills combining physical athletic demands with game-like cognitive challenges. Athletes have to train their response in all directions, in various ranges of motion, on many different surfaces, as well as through and over obstacles. We sports specify by including balls and equipment that makes the drills more applicable to the demands of a particular sport. We have developed hundreds of these so the athlete is always challenged with something new, building their athleticism and showing them they are ready for anything their sport might challenge them with and beyond.

With a solid athletic foundation built, it’s now time for the big hitters. The ones that most programs seem to give most of the attention. Speed, strength, and power. These key adaptations are essential to peak athletic performance. Yes, an athlete can increase muscle mass on a hesitant, unstable, slow-responding foundation; however, at In The Core we know that taking this route does not optimize an athlete’s potential, increases their risk for injury significantly, and may be disadvantageous in the long run. An In the Core athlete increases their muscle mass, strength, power, and speed in tandem with their ability to move their body athletically in more complex motions and with greater ability and skill.

Performance is the goal. Great performance leads to victory. We tangibly test performance adaptations in our one of a kind whole-brained In The Core athletic courses and circuits. These demand athletes to make very quick athletic decisions showing a balanced, responsive body able to execute great speed and power resulting in a high level of overall athletic performance. Training from the inside out like this is the key. An In The Core athlete is ready any time, in any place, for anything, not just training for today but for a lifetime of performance. Don’t pitch your tent though, for athletic performance is a great, endless frontier.

Geno's Story

My son Dante has been training at In The Core since 2019 and my daughter Ava has been training there since 2023.  They are both year-round athletes that put a lot of stress demand on their bodies through their respective sports and consequently they put stress on their minds through school, sports, social life, etc.  With that said, when we found ITC we were drawn to not only the physical athletic training but also the mind/brain work and encompassing everything all into one.  Simply put, training the full body not only for competition but also the life of a teenage student-athlete and the preparation into adult hood.  There are many options in the market if you’re looking to just get bigger, faster, stronger but if you are like us, and you were looking for more than that, ITC is the place to come.

The coaching and training aspect of ITC is impeccable.  The details and focus of every session will ensure your athlete has an incredible workout that is tailored to them individually every time they visit.  The brain work and the messages they learn through the training has my kids walk out of ITC sessions a completely different person.  They are more upbeat, energetic, and motivated even though they just performed an intense work out for 45-90 minutes.

As a former athlete, it is very evident to see the physical results in their training.  As a parent, I see my children’s growth in their mindset and maturity.  I see them thinking about their futures in ways they never did before, I see their motivation in helping and be a part of the solution, and I see them wanting to serve something higher than themselves.  For me and my family, this means being a complete athlete which is what they receive from the team at ITC.

ITC has been a huge blessing for our whole family.  The lifelong friendships and relationships that we have developed and the tools that our children have received are priceless.  We are forever grateful and forever ITC!
